This inaugural sitting marks the first time the OAPE PostgreSQL DBA-1 certification has been offered publicly — an open, vendor-neutral validation of core PostgreSQL database administration skills, for administrators, engineers, consultants, and professionals who want to demonstrate their expertise.

The OAPE PostgreSQL DBA-1 certification path is intended for professionals who have acquired foundational PostgreSQL administration skills through practical experience, training, or self-study.
It focuses on fundamental administration topics and provides an independent validation of core PostgreSQL knowledge — future sittings will follow the same scope.
To enter the exam you will need:
No special software or personal internet connection is required.
Important: Some company-managed laptops block connections to new or external networks. Please check in advance that your device can join a conference-provided Wi-Fi network.
Alongside the exam, join our open meetup during PGConf.EU 2026’s Community Events Day.
It’s open to anyone with a Community Events Day ticket — no separate registration needed.
We’ll share our roadmap and plans for growing the Alliance and the certification program over the next few years, and we’re looking for feedback from participants to help shape where both go next. The Open Alliance is licensed by PGCA and already counts around 40 people from nearly as many companies.
Organisations may identify themselves as OAPE sponsors only if they are, in fact, current sponsors of OAPE (current sponsors of OAPE are listed below). Sponsors, and any other organisation, are welcome to run their own PostgreSQL training independently of OAPE.
No organisation is authorised to state or imply that its training is affiliated with, or officially connected to OAPE PostgreSQL Certification.
OAPE does not currently operate a programme of OAPE Certified Training Companies or OAPE Certified Trainers. Any organisation or individual claiming this status at present is doing so without authorisation.
OAPE PostgreSQL Certification exams are run exclusively by OAPE.
