The first Open Alliance for PostgreSQL Education certification exam

The Open Alliance for PostgreSQL Education (OAPE) is proud to announce the first public PostgreSQL DBA-1 certification exam.

The PostgreSQL DBA-1 certification validates foundational knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration against an open, vendor-neutral, and community-driven standard.

It is designed for database administrators, engineers, consultants, and professionals who want to demonstrate their understanding of core PostgreSQL administration concepts.

The first certification exam will take place during the Community Event Day at PGConf.EU 2026 in Valencia.

Date: 23 October 2026 (2 Slots are available to choose from in the registration form: 9am and 2pm CET)

  • Participation in the exam is free, but registration is mandatory.
  • Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Candidates must present a valid photo ID at the examination venue.

What to bring

You only need 

  • a laptop with a web browser and the ability to connect to the on-site Wi‑Fi.
  • a valid photo ID, which must be presented at the examination venue

 

No special software or personal internet connection is required.

Important: Some company-managed laptops block connections to new or external networks. Please check in advance that your device can join a conference-provided Wi-Fi network.

Who should take this exam?

The PostgreSQL DBA-1 certification is intended for professionals who have acquired foundational PostgreSQL administration skills through practical experience, training, or self-study.

The certification focuses on fundamental administration topics and provides an independent validation of core PostgreSQL knowledge.
